What is Fondazione Ergo?

Founded in Varese in 2012 Fondazione Ergo is the reference technical institution when talking about work organization and measurement (MTM) and Ergonomics (EAWS)

The main goal of Fondazione, a neutral meeting point between Companies and Unions, is to coordinate productivity and safety on work, by providing technical skills and specific coaching experiences in order to build a common terminology, align competitiveness goals with workers’ health and reach World Class productivity levels.

Professor Sandro Trento, from Trento University, is the general director of Fondazione Ergo, while Mr Gabriele Caragnano, Partner PwC and EMEA Operations Leader is the Technical Director.

Since 2019, Fondazione Ergo has been promoter and leader, jointly with its German sister company MTM Association e.v., of One-MTM, a global network which brings together MTM Associations, Companies and Institutions wishing to cooperate for the development of work measurement techniques to be shared worldwide, as well as tools and knowledge, so becoming part of a global improvement process.

Fondazione Ergo activities

At the heart of Fondazione Ergo operation, there are MTM (Methods-Time Measurement), a system which allows to pre-determine work performance time basing on the measurement of working time according to method, and EAWS (Ergonomic Assessment Work Sheet), an innovative approach to improve the ergonomic design of a work-place.

With about 350,000 workers involved in Italy, Fondazione supports Companies and Unions with audit services on work productivity levels, ergonomic risk evaluation compared to international standards and operational models based on structural involvement of human resources.

EAWS (Ergonomics Assessment Work-Sheet)

The need to comply with current regulations has made it increasingly important for companies to have an ergonomic analysis tool to evaluate the biomechanical load in all its components in all parts of the body.

EAWS, designed to be integrated with MTM system, is an ergonomic risk screening system for biomechanical overload designed to address holistic risk assessment, comprising all types of biomechanical risk to which an operator is exposed in the performance of a work task.
